

Research has long told us that postpartum depression is a very real and common problem affecting new mothers, however, studies are now just beginning to focus on how new fatherhood impacts men and their overall emotional and psychological well being. Virtually all men will experience some significant amount of stress in adjusting to their new roles as fathers.
Research has shown that a significant number of men (between 5%-20%) experience very significant periods of depression and anxiety during the prenatal and/or postnatal time period. In addition, the likelihood of new dads experiencing anxiety or mood disturbance more than doubles when the child's mother is experiencing postpartum depression herself.
